"Life is but a canvas to the imagination."
Henry David Thoreaou
| Born and raised in beautiful Chester County in Pennsylvania, Bobby studied art in schools in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Rome, Italy. He has since traveled throughout Africa for months at a time. He has now attained the freedom he has always yearned for and any artist deserves; simply painting what he wishes and how he wishes with any medium, any size, and any subject matter. Though he focuses on wildlife, he paints numerous different subject matters ranging from cityscapes to interesting people he has come across while traveling.
Oddly enough, coming out of high school he wanted nothing to do with art. He went into college not knowing what direction he wanted to take. He tried graphic design for his first two years of college, though he suddenly realized he wanted complete control over his work. But most importantly during those first two years of college, his desire for art quickly escalated to an entirely new level. He soon switched to fine arts, and hasn`t looked back since.
Perhaps the biggest life changing moment for him as an artist came when he was studying in Italy, observing firsthand the work of some of the greatest artistic minds of all time. It was at this moment that he realized art wasn`t contained in what to him had always seemed like a box, but he now knew
its sole intention was based on endless possibility. Suddenly, the complexity and quality of his art work quickly expanded to all new horizons.
His thought process became more involved and his techniques more advanced, yet his messages he conveyed in his paintings became bolder. "It becomes easier to speak when you have something to say," is what Bobby says when asked why his art reached all new heights after his Italy studies. It becomes very clear that he has something to say when you observe his paintings.
Traveling around the world to study his subject matter makes the validity of his work that much stronger. He says life comes down to emotion, and he feels art comes down to that very same emotion. For him his art is too important not to take the most direct approach. "I have kinda grown into this person that would rather jump in head first than stick my toes in and test the water. So, if you believe in it, you owe it to yourself to give it all you have. For me the importance is not placed on the success or failure, but its placed on the effort and commitment
involved in reaching that success or even that failure." |
